8 Books To Read For More Mojo

Top Eight Books That Will Increase Your Mojo

If you want to read or have a resolution to do more reading in 2020, this list of books will inspire you and increase your mojo.  I have personally read most of them and recommend them to you. Use it any way you want, read them in any order, and don’t be afraid to stop in the middle of one book and switch to another.  For those who, like me, have low vision, these books are available in Audio format from Librivox, if the book is in the public domain, from Audible.com for a nominal fee, or from your local public library.

To get the most mojo out of your reading, you should read in a quiet place and concentrate on what you are reading.  Don’t worry about speed. You are using your brain, so you should think about what you are reading. Don’t let a TV or music program distract you.  Here is my list.

  1. The Bible, Many smart people have read this book and learned a lot from it. I do not recommend reading it from cover to cover. Instead, select some books that you want to know more about and read them. I recommend the New Testament, Genesis, Exodus, Proverbs, and Psalms as first reads. Add to this list when you want to.
  2. Mere Christianity - C. S. Lewis,  A friend gave me this book in college.  I can never thank her enough. It is short and concise for those who want to know more about Christianity or why believers believe.
  3. Animal Farm - George Orwell.  The dangers we face from a bigger state are clarified by this book. It is dark, but it is a warning.
  4. The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin.  His actions upon arriving in Philadelphia will inspire you. Plenty of words of wisdom.
  5. Atlas Shrugged Ayn Rand  You will forever have faith in the capability of free men to create something great after reading this book.
  6. 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos- Jordan Peterson  This is a more contemporary book, replete with great advice for anyone to follow.  Optimistic.
  7. The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People - Stephen Covey  I have this book, but have not read it cover-to-cover. Nevertheless, it contains some great advice and is a well reviewed and respected book.
  8. What Color Is Your Parachute? - Richard Nelson Boll es  Great explanation of what you want to do with your life and why you should or should not make a given choice.
There are a lot of reasons to read, not the least of which are improved brain function and writing skills. Also, you can go on your own - at your own pace and at your own choice.  Happy reading!
