What To Do When Your Mojo Is Questioned
What To Do When Your Mojo Is Questioned
In my first post, I described the components of mojo. Start from there.
- motivation
- expertise
- experience
- support
- luck
- faith
- willingness to act
You can’t change some of these. Others are very hard to change or to change a lot. For example, luck is something that you can’t predict or change. It happens when it happens. Also, you can’t change the degree of support you had in the past. If you want to increase support, it is future support only. Your willingness to act is very difficult to change because it is mostly a trait that you either do or do not have. Lastly, internal motivation is similar, although sometimes external motivation can be converted to internal motivation. See this post for a discussion of how this happens.
On the other hand, there are some areas you can work on anytime. These areas are:- External motivation
- Expertise
- Experience
- Current support
- Faith
I have listed these in order of your bang-for-the -buck. The biggest gain you can make is to increase your external motivation. If your mojo is questioned, this is the place to start. In another post, I have detailed how you can increase your external motivation. There ae three tricks you should use first
- Variety
- Friend
- Rivals
The second thing to do is work on your expertise. More studying and learning can help improve your expertise and ,mojo. Read as much as you can about your craft. Ask yourself, “Why is this always done this way?” The answer will help your understanding and mojo. Alternatively, read this post to enhance your expertise.
Get as much experience as possible. Not only will your experience improve, but your expertise may as well. These two can only help your mojo. I gave recommended some other experience blogs. Read them.
Look into who is supporting you. You may have someone on your team who is the best on paper, but usn’t interested in helping you, Get someone else. You need the best coaches, trainers, managers, etc currently working to help you if you want to maximize your mojo. Also, I have a posting about how support can help your mojo. If nothing else, surround yourself with people who have your best interests at heart. There is nothing wrong with improving your support team.
Lastly, look at your faith. Do you trust your current support team? Do you honestly believe that they have prepared you well? If you can’t answer yes to either of these questions, why not? Get someone better until you can. But remember, faith is something you have. The best support team in the world is useless if you don’t believe in them. Also, read my post about how faith affects mojo.
